The Sustainable Neighbourhoods Network is a collaborative web platform for government officials,
architects, planners, engineers, developers and civil society organisations interested in and working
toward building more sustainable neighbourhood developments.

The network facilitates dialogue, information and knowledge sharing around sustainable development. The SNN web platform hosts information drawn from  international, African and South African experiences, research and information on sustainable technological solutions, sustainable community development and more.

The resources section is a repository for  research in  sustainable development, housing, sustainable infrastructure, community development, best practice case studies and more. SNN also provides  a forum that facilitates dialogue on various different sustainable development themes, and a blog in which practitioners can share ideas and experiences. For events related to our Sustainable Communities Support Programme, please visit our calendar of events.

SNN also offers free membership packages to professionals and government officials. Membership allows access to closed workshop and project related documents and events. Membership also enables access to the full database of professionals and organisations within the network, enabling them to find and collaborate with one another.

Funders and Site Administration
This site was previously funded by the United Nations Development Programme, and is currently funded by the South African National Department of Human Settlements. The site has been developed and is maintained by the Sustainable Neighbourhoods Programme at Sustainability Institute in Lynedoch (Stellenbosch), South Africa.

SNN  provides a platform for professionals who can find one another and update their own contact details.  Individuals interested in Sustainable Neighbourhoods in Southern Africa are encouraged to register as a network member.  This will allow you to participate in the discussions and provide you with access to a directory listing.
